Traumatising Experience :S

It's been a LONG while since I last blogged :P

Since I've experienced something rather traumatising today, I thought I shall share about it :) See these photos:

It was so dramatic this morning :S :S I thought we were experiencing an earthquake...

My family had a gathering last night at Justin's place. We were all just hanging around after dinner, watching tv and singing karaoke. We decided to spend the night over since it ended quite late. Auntie Peggy & Zelia left first (Uncle Ong came to pick them). According to Auntie Joan, she heard creaking sounds during the night. Mama heard it too. But they just ignored, thinking it's probably coming from neighbours.

This morning, around 10+, we were all awake, getting ready to go out for breakfast. Mummy was helping to clear the dining table (as u can see in the picture) when the tiles under her feet started to crack. She told me in quite a panicky tone, but I didn't really bother at first. After a while, the cracking sound lasted longer and became louder. At that time, Justin was taking a shower while all of us were panicking outside. Richmond was trying to calm us down and right after he said, "just calm down, nothing one...calm down..", the tiles "exploded" with a really loud sound. I don't really know how to describe that sound though...At that time I was really worried that the house might collaspe (sounds quite exagerated, but I was really scared!). I was screaming unknowingly, hurrying Justin to come out of the bathroom. HAHA. Some bits and pieces of the cement popped out and flew around too. I think most of us were in a state of shock when that happened. Everyone just didn't know what to do. After the major popping out of tiles - the one with the "explosive" sound, a whole row of tiles followed an inverted V pattern. The whole living room had very unleveled flooring, and we didn't know when the cracking and popping would stop.

Auntie Joan was the first to evacuate the house..haha... When Justin finally came out, he called his brother-in-law to come down. We were quite relieved when we heard from him that this is caused by
thermal expansion and the contraction of the tiles. Moreover, this isn't the first case in Singapore. They called HDB and after some time, they sent someone over to take a look. Most probably HDB/Town Council will bear the cost of the repairs. At about 4pm, a contractor came to remove all the damaged tiles. As he was removing them, more tiles popped up. :S

Actually thinking about it now still gives me a phobia :S Justin just called and said he could still hear some of these cracking sounds. :( Thankfully he could spend the night at his sister's place tonight (just upstairs!)

I hope everything is fine and that HDB will conpensate the full cost :)
